What is the difference between a recon car and an AP car?
An AP car is a brand-new vehicle imported under a government-issued Approved Permit. A recon car is a pre-owned imported vehicle. Both require proper documentation, but recon cars are significantly cheaper than new AP cars of the same model.
Which countries do recon cars come from?

What does the Japanese auction grade mean?
Japanese auction houses grade cars from 1–5 (with sub-grades like 3.5, 4.5). Grade 4+ means very good condition with minimal wear. WGA Car focuses on Grade 4 and above for most stock. Ask us for the auction sheet on any vehicle.
Are recon cars cheaper than buying new in Malaysia?

What is a JPJ/Puspakom inspection?
Puspakom inspection is a mandatory roadworthiness check required for registration of imported vehicles in Malaysia. All WGA Car vehicles are Puspakom-cleared before sale. We provide the Puspakom report to all buyers on request.

An auction sheet (検査表) is an official grading document from a Japanese car auction house recording the car’s grade, engine condition, mileage, body condition diagram, and inspector notes. It is the most reliable document for verifying a Japanese import’s true condition. WGA Car provides the original auction sheet for all Japanese-sourced vehicles.
What is the difference between Grade 4 and Grade 3.5?
Grade 4: very good condition, only minor surface marks, near-new appearance.
Grade 3.5: good condition with minor cosmetic issues (small dents, light scratches, light interior wear) but no major damage.
Grade 3 has more visible cosmetic issues. WGA Car primarily stocks Grade 3.5 and above.
Do recon cars from Japan have accurate mileage?
Yes. Japan’s strict odometer laws and auction inspection system make Japanese imports highly reliable for mileage. Tampering is a serious offence in Japan. WGA Car cross-references the auction sheet mileage with service history stamps and ECU data where available.
Can I buy a left-hand drive recon car in Malaysia?
No. Malaysia follows left-hand traffic — all legally registered vehicles must be right-hand drive. Left-hand drive vehicles cannot be registered for road use in Malaysia. All WGA Car vehicles are right-hand drive and JPJ compliant.
What is 'recon' versus a 'used' car in Malaysia?

What does 'full spec' mean for a recon car?

How do I know the mileage is genuine?
We provide the Japanese auction sheet recording mileage at time of auction. We do not sell vehicles with suspected odometer tampering.
Can I trade in my current car?

How long does the buying process take?

Is a booking deposit refundable?

What documents do I need when purchasing?
Malaysian citizens: MyKad. PR holders: passport and PR card. For loans: latest 3 months’ payslips and bank statements (salaried), or 6 months’ bank statements and SSM certificate (self-employed).
Can I buy a car as a gift for someone else?
Yes. Vehicle can be registered in a third party’s name. Both buyer’s and registered owner’s IC details required. Loan must be in the registered owner’s name. Contact 019-3203366.
What is included in the sale price?
Includes: vehicle, pre-sale inspection and refurbishment, Puspakom clearance, and WGA Car’s administrative processing. Excludes: road tax, motor insurance, optional extended warranty, and delivery fee. Full cost breakdown provided before signing.
Do you provide a Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA)?
Yes. Every sale includes a formal SPA detailing vehicle particulars, agreed price, payment terms, warranty coverage, and both parties’ obligations. We encourage buyers to read it fully before signing
What happens if my loan gets rejected after paying a deposit?
If WGA Car cannot secure financing after exhausting all options, the booking deposit is refunded in full. We work with multiple lenders and always seek a solution first. Stated in the SPA.
Can a company (Sdn. Bhd.) purchase a car through WGA Car?
Yes. Vehicle can be registered under a company name. Requirements: SSM registration, company resolution, director/authorised signatory’s IC, and financial documents for loan if needed. Email info@wgacar.com.

Do you offer car financing?

What documents do I need for a loan?
Salaried: MyKad, 3 months’ payslips, 3 months’ bank statements, EPF statement. Self-employed: MyKad, 6 months’ bank statements, SSM cert. WGA Car assists with the full application.
What is the minimum down payment?
Generally 10% of the car price, subject to lender requirements. Higher down payment = lower monthly instalment. Contact us for a free estimate.
What payment methods are accepted?
Cash (MYR), bank transfer (IBG/RENTAS), and loan disbursement. No cryptocurrency. Contact us for bank details.
Which banks does WGA Car work with?

What is the typical interest rate?
3.5%–5.5% p.a. flat rate for used car loans, depending on lender, credit profile, tenure, and vehicle age. WGA Car compares rates across our panel for you.
Can a self-employed or freelancer get a loan?
Yes. 6 months’ bank statements, SSM cert, and sometimes an accountant’s letter required. WGA Car advises on the most suitable lenders for self-employed applicants.
Can a foreigner buy a recon car in Malaysia?

What if my loan is rejected?
WGA Car will explore alternative lenders, advise on increasing the down payment or using a guarantor, or suggest a lower-priced vehicle. Full deposit refund if all options are exhausted.
Is it better to pay cash or take a loan?
Both have merit. Cash avoids interest; loans preserve capital. Flat rates for recon car loans in Malaysia are relatively low. WGA Car gives you the full picture with no pressure.
How do I calculate my monthly car loan instalment?
Monthly instalment = (Principal + Total Interest) ÷ Loan tenure in months. Total Interest = Principal × Rate × Years. Example: RM100,000 at 4% flat for 7 years = (100,000 + 28,000) ÷ 84 = RM1,523/month. Contact us for a free estimate
What is the maximum loan tenure for a recon car?
Up to 9 years (108 months) for most lenders. Maximum may be shorter for older vehicles — some lenders cap (vehicle age + loan tenure) at 10–12 years. WGA Car will clarify for the specific vehicle.
Does WGA Car provide in-house financing?
No. WGA Car facilitates bank and licensed finance company loans only — not proprietary in-house hire-purchase. This ensures regulated, transparent financing with proper loan agreements.
What credit score is needed to get a car loan?
Banks use CCRIS and CTOS. They generally look for: no more than 2–3 active late payments, no bankruptcy, and a Debt Service Ratio (DSR) below 60–70% of net income. WGA Car can advise informally with no hard inquiry

What happens after my loan is approved?

Can I settle my car loan early? Are there penalties?
Yes. Under Malaysia’s Hire Purchase Act 1967, you are entitled to a rebate on remaining interest for early settlement. Some lenders have a minimum lock-in period (e.g. 12 months). Check early settlement terms in your loan agreement.
Can I refinance my recon car loan later?
Yes. Refinancing is possible — take a new loan at potentially lower rate or better terms to pay off the existing loan. WGA Car does not arrange refinancing directly but can refer you to financial advisors.
Is a guarantor required for a recon car loan?
Not always. Depends on income, credit profile, and lender’s assessment. A guarantor (usually a close family member with stable income) can strengthen a borderline application. WGA Car will advise if a guarantor is likely needed.
What is the loan-to-value (LTV) ratio for recon cars?
Most banks offer up to 90% LTV — finance 90% and pay 10% as down payment. LTV can be lower (70–80%) for older vehicles or weaker credit profiles. WGA Car will clarify the expected LTV for your vehicle and profile.
Can I use my EPF (KWSP) savings to pay for a car?
EPF Account 2 vehicle withdrawal is not a standard EPF facility as of 2026. EPF Account 3 (Flexible Account) funds can be used for any purpose. Check directly with KWSP (www.kwsp.gov.my) for latest guidelines.

Yes. All vehicles are fully registered with JPJ. We handle ownership transfer (tukar nama) completely on your behalf. You receive the geran in your name.

How do I renew road tax for an imported recon car?
Same as any Malaysian-registered car — via myJPJ app, JPJ counters, or Pos Malaysia. Valid insurance required first. Road tax amount based on engine capacity.
Do I need special insurance for a recon car?

What is the difference between geran and kad pendaftaran?
Geran (ownership document) records the legal owner. Kad Pendaftaran (registration card) is carried in the vehicle for road checks. Both are updated after ownership transfer.
Can I sell the car after buying from WGA Car?
Yes. Once registered in your name you have full rights to resell. Standard JPJ transfer process applies. No restrictions on reselling legally registered recon cars.
What if I lose my geran?
Apply for a Salinan Geran at JPJ. Bring your MyKad and a police report. A replacement fee applies. Keep your original geran in a safe place, not in the car.
What is the difference between a Puspakom B2 and B5 inspection?
B2 is the standard 10-point inspection used for ownership transfer of used imported vehicles. B5 is a comprehensive 32-point inspection covering more systems. B2 is the minimum required for JPJ registration. Buyers can request B5 at their own cost for extra peace of mind.

What is a vehicle's chassis number and why does it matter?
The chassis number (VIN) is the vehicle’s unique identity code stamped on the chassis and engine bay, and recorded in the geran. Used to verify identity, check stolen vehicle status, and confirm documents match. WGA Car verifies the chassis number before listing any vehicle
How do I verify that a recon car is not stolen?
Ask for the chassis number and run a check via MyJPJ app or JPJ counter, and with PDRM. WGA Car pre-screens all vehicles for stolen status before purchase and before listing. A clean JPJ search is provided to every buyer.
What taxes or duties are paid when a recon car is imported?
Import Duty, Excise Duty, Sales Tax (SST where applicable), and port/customs handling charges. These are already absorbed into WGA Car’s sale price. Buyers do not need to deal with customs separately
What is the JPJ approval letter and do I need it?
Certain imported vehicles require a JPJ approval letter (Surat Kelulusan) before registration. WGA Car handles all pre-registration JPJ approvals as part of our import process. No additional approvals required from the buyer’s side.
What if the seller's name on the geran is not WGA Car's company name?
This can happen for speed and cost efficiency and is legal in Malaysia when handled with a Surat Ikatan Jual Beli (deed of assignment). WGA Car will clearly disclose this and ensure all documentation is in order.
How long is the vehicle registration certificate (geran) valid?
The geran does not expire — it is a permanent ownership document. Road tax and motor insurance must be renewed annually. Ownership changes require a new geran from JPJ.
What do I do if my car is involved in an accident?
(1) File a police report (Laporan Polis) within 24 hours.
(2) Contact your motor insurer to submit a claim.
(3) Have your geran, road tax disc, driving licence, and police report ready. Keep soft copies of key documents in a secure cloud location.
Is it possible to register a recon car under a minor's name?
No. Under Malaysian law, vehicles cannot be registered in the name of a person below 18 years old. Must be registered under an adult’s name until the minor turns 18.
What is the process if I want to modify a recon car?
Structural/performance modifications require JPJ approval. Cosmetic modifications (seat covers, audio, within-spec rims) generally do not. Check JPJ guidelines before modifying. Unauthorised modifications can affect insurance coverage and road tax renewal.
